Early Years

Welcome to Early Years

The foundation stages of our children learning sets them up to be the best they can be right from the beginning.

We use the Development Matters and Birth to 5 documents to support the design of our ambitious and exciting curriculum for reception and nursery children.

Early Years

We have been very busy in Early Years this half term, with caterpillars and a Coronation, bouncing and butterflies.

The Coronation of King Charles III

The children enjoyed a fun filled fortnight celebrating the coronation of King Charles III. We learnt lots of facts, rein acted the coronation with our own orb, sceptre and crown and planted a tree to commemorate the event. Parents and family members joined us for an afternoon celebration event at which the children sang a special coronation song. Much fun was had by all. Thank you for joining us to celebrate and for raising over £100 for EY resources.

Caterpillars

Over the last few weeks we have been learning about growing and changing with lifecycles a focus. How better to learn than with our very own butterfly hatchery?! Early Years have nurtured, fed, watered and watched the teeny tiny caterpillars crunch, munch and grow into big caterpillars and cocoons. The children were very patient and waited for the arrival of the beautiful butterflies over a two-week period. Carefully releasing the butterflies into the conservation area, the children have seen life cycles in action.

The Mayor Visits

We had a very special visitor in school last month. The Ceremonial Mayor of Huddersfield came to see us and talk to us about his role and duties. The children listened with interest as he explained his chains, mace and robes. The visit was quite the discussion point with the children fascinated by the Mayor. Thank you for visiting us and for posing for such a special photograph.
