Our priorities for 2023 – 2024 are:
Improving the teaching of phonics to raise outcomes and ensure ALL children are readers.
Improving the teaching of reading so ALL children can access our full curriculum and show a love of reading.
Improving Behaviours for learning so ALL children are engaged, motived and thrive.

A message from the Head.
Linthwaite Clough is a school at the heart of its community. We are part of the Scapegoat Hill and Linthwaite Clough Federation, formed in 2015.
Our vision, values and passion for a holistic education is shared across the Federation and we pride ourselves on our creative curriculum; we work hard to offer children exciting and challenging opportunities throughout their learning journey with us and beyond.
I believe children learn best when they are actively engaged, learning in an appropriate and rich environment – whether that is in the hall, classroom, playground or woodland. Both schools in the Federation held a Gold Award for Learning Outside the Classroom due to our unique delivery of the National Curriculum through Confident Creative Learning sessions (CCL – please see our policy for more detail) and discrete lessons.
We empower children to take ownership of their learning, developing confidence, creativity and resilience through choice and a wide range of focused and independent activities. The ‘have a go’ attitude promoted in Early Years is nurtured in every year group.
Our whole school community works hard, both in our individual schools and across the Federation. I am privileged to have the position of Head of our Federation, working alongside experienced Senior and Wider Leadership Teams, phase leaders, teachers and support staff – all with a passion for learning and a shared vision for the future.
We understand the trust placed on us every day as you leave your children in our care. As such outstanding pastoral care and safeguarding are paramount. Children need to feel happy and safe in order to learn and be the best they can be. We consider the social, emotional and mental wellbeing of children to be a priority.
Why not give us a call and find out more; we look forward to meeting you soon.
