Remote learning

Following the government’s announcement on Monday 4 January, your child will continue their learning journey from home through our remote learning provision.

In creating our provision, we have taken into account parental responses to our surveys and the government’s best practice guidance (http://www.gov.uk/coronavirus/education-and-childcare).

We aim to provide an exciting, ambitious and challenging curriculum that will follow the schemes and topics that would have been taught in school this term. We have chosen Microsoft Teams as our platform as it is already supported in school, and many children will go on to use Teams at high school and beyond. For more information on the rationale behind our remote learning please refer to our Remote Learning Policy.

If you are not a critical worker and your child does not clearly fall into the vulnerable group, but you are experiencing difficulties with remote learning, please contact school. We consider all concerns from any family on an individual basis. We will do all we can, including intervention work, printing packs, one to one technical/Teams training sessions, to support you at home before considering offering a place in school. By doing this we are able to follow the government guidelines, keep everyone as safe as possible by reducing the risk of transmission in schools and support the national and local effort to keep infection rates as low as possible.

If you go to the home learning section of our website you will find lots of links to other educational and fun sites that your children may enjoy. You could use these to supplement our provision or to simply find fun activities to do whilst we are in the new Lockdown 3!

We hope you all stay safe and well over the next few weeks. We understand however the stress and strains this can put on families, particularly if you are working from home. We ask that you try your best to support your child’s learning, but do not hesitate to contact school if you need any support.

We have produced a document with detailed instructions on how to use Teams for remote learning, which can be downloaded from here.

Thank you.
